NEW MATERIAL:An ampicillin ester of formulaI(R1 is H, lower alkyl, aryl; R2 is H; R1 and R2 may incorporate through a carbon chain to form a ring) and its acid adduct.
EXAMPLE: Ampicillin (2-oxo-5-phenyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl ester.
USE: A synthetic penicillin that can be orally administered: it shows high stability in gastric and intestinal juice and high absorbability from intenstinal tracts and keeps high ampicilline concentration in blood for hours. Low toxicity.
PREPARATION: For example, the reaction of a compound of formula II (A is protected amino group, group convertible to amino group) with another compound of formula III (X is halogen) gives a compound of formula IV and, when necessary, A is converted to an amino group to give the compound of formulaI.
