Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve strength and corrosion resistance by using a steel wire drawn with high workability after a patenting treatment as a core material and by cladding it with stainless steel before wire drawing.
CONSTITUTION: A high-carbon steel wire is inserted into and fit in a stainless steel tube or a stainless steel tape formed in a tubular shape and welded, and then drawn to manufacture a stainless-steel clad wire. In this method, a hard drawn high-carbon steel manufactured by patenting and drawing the high-carbon steel wire with a ≥20% surface reduction rate is used as a core wire.
