Abstract
PURPOSE: To twist strand wires obtained from finely forming crystal grains of stainless steel, fabricate a wire rope, give a self lubricating function to between the strand wires and improve wear resistance of the wire rope, by applying heat treatment and cold work to the stainless steel containing high silicon.
CONSTITUTION: Stainless steel containing high silicon is formed with stainless steel containing about 3.5W6% silicon by suppressing its toughness. Such high silicon stainless steel as increased its workability by suppressing its toughness is formed into wire rods by the method of rolling and repeatedly applied heat treatment and cold work by publicly known means, then crystal grains of the stainless steel is finely processed to both strengthen toughness of said stainless steel and draw it into wire in a prescribed diameter. In this way, strand wire of high silicon stainless steel produces slide quality on its surface, then said strand wire is twisted to form a strand rod in a prescribed diameter, further a prescribed number of the strand rods are twisted to obtain a wire rope in a prescribed diameter.
