Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a conductive heat resistant Al alloy of improved conductivity, strength and tensile strength after heating by subjecting an Al-Zr type alloy of specific compsn. to continuous forging, rolling and cold working then to an aging treatment under specific conditions followed by cold working.
CONSTITUTION: An Al-Zr type alloy contg. 0.23W0.35% Zr is continuously forged and rolled, after which it is cold-worked down to prescribed sizes. Thence, it is subjected to an aging treatment of 50W400°C at 310W390°C to allow Zr to deposite and disperse uniformly and finely as Al3Zr. Thence, it is subjected to cold working of 3W10% reduction ratios, whereby it is improved to desired strength. By this method, the conductive heat resistant Al alloy having ≥58% IACS conductivity, strength equivalent to that of hard Al wires, and tensile strength of ≥90% the original one even after heating for 4hr at 400°C is obtained.
