Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide high-grade, very fine wire material for tire cord use having excellent wire extension property, Al content in raw material molten sreel is reduced 0.003 % or less by using a number of emission spectral analyzers for quick analysis.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel for high-grade very fine wire material is produced and analyzed for its aluminum content by using a plural number of emission spectral analyese. The molten steel composition is controlled so that greater than 50 % of analysis data are allowed to have values less than 0.003 wt% of aluminum content. The so controlled molten steel is cast into ingot and worked through billet rolling, wire material preparation, extension to provide very fine wire material for tire cord use. Al either soluble or insoluble in molten steel is limited to a very minor amount. This results in very little nonmetallic Al2O3 inclusion, thus enabling to provide high-grade very fine wire material having excellent wire extension, bending, and anti-fatigue properties.
