Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the stripe pattern on the element fine and to obtain the high density recording head for narrow track, by a slope with a prescribed angle of easy magnetizing axis of the element to the magnetic recording medium, through the trapezoidal shape of magnetic resistance element (MR). CONSTITUTION:The MR element 3 is shaped into a trapezoid in which the height is lower at the conductor contact 4 and higher at the conductor contact 5, and fine stripe patterns 7a-7e are formed the element 3 with vapor deposition of Au and Al or the like. The element 3 is made trapezoid, allowing the slope of the magnetization easy axis in the range of 10-45 deg. to the magnetic recording medium sliding surface, and the angle of the fine stripe patterns 7a-7e to the longitudinal direction of the element 3 can be increased. The location with the angle of minimum 15 deg. and maximum 75 deg. with the easy magnetization axis can be made between both ends of the element 3, allowing finner location than conventional methods. Thus, without sacrifycing the MR effect such as the rate of change of magnetic resistance (dynamic range) and distortion, the head for narrow track and high density recording can be obtained.
