Abstract
PURPOSE:To make saturation hard to occur during recording, to increase reproduction efficiency, and to improve wear resistance by usin a high-magnetic- permeability magnetic material such as ferrite and a metallic magnetic material skillfully in combination. CONSTITUTION:The circumferential part of a magnetic head operating gap 11 is composed of a magnetic body 10 which is made of a metallic magnetic material or an amorphous alloy magnetic material and has high magnetic permeability and high saturated magnetic flux density, and part except the part of the metallic material or amorphous alloy magnetic material is formed of a manetic body 12, such as Mn-Zn ferrite, having high magnetic permeability. A cut groove 13 is formed for track-width determination near the operating gap to have necessary track width tw, and is charged with a nonmagnetic material such as glass.
