Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong the life of the apparatus by a method wherein the heat receiving side of the heat pipe subject to a high temperature waste gas is covered with lead so that the acid-resistant and dew point corrosion resistant property of the pipe is improved.
CONSTITUTION: The heat pipe 7 covered with lead has a double pipe structure comprising an inner pipe 11 made of a material of high mechanical strength such as copper, a copper alloy or aluminum and a lead or lead alloy pipe covering the outer periphery of the inner pipe 11. A cover 1a lined over the side wall of a casing which constitutes a high temperature gas passage 3 is attached with a cushion 16 and one end of the heat receiving side 8 of the lead covered heat pipe 7 which is arranged aslant is made to contact with the cushion 16 so as to be supported by the latter. The lead covered heat pipe 7 thus formed has an excellent acid resistant and dew point corrosion resistant property and the life of the apparatus can therefore be prolonged.
