Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten a down time of the inverter unit to the utmost by a method wherein a reclosing is made after the confirmation of whether or not a supply voltage fall and an abnormal DC current are recovered when commutation failure takes place. CONSTITUTION:The commutation failure is detected by a commutation failure detecting circuit 10 to cause a breaker 5 to trip through a trip signal generating circuit 11, when taking place in the inverter unit 3 regenerating an electric power generated in a feeder line due to the regenerative braking of an electric car. Further, the trip signal is fed to a making signal generation unit 16 through a timer 12 together with regenerative signals of an undervoltage detector 14 of the AC source 1 and of an operation control circuit 15, and the breaker 5 is automatically reclosed on condition that the supply voltage fall and the abnormal DC current have been recovered. Accordingly, a long-time impossibility of the regenerative braking can be prevented without stopping the inverter 3 for a long period of time due to the temporary bad condition.
