Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the faults in a speed sensor and to prevent erroneous antiskid control in a simple constitution, by detecting the abnormal decrease in vehicle speed when a vehicle is not braked by the comparison with a simulated speed signal, and cutting a power source of an antiskid control circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the brake is not applied, a signal which follows a vehicle speed signal VW is generated by the speed sensor 1 and a frequency voltage converter 2. When the signal VW is quickly decreased by the braking, the decreasing rate is restricted below a specified upper limit. The simulated signal VT which is larger than the signal VW is generated from a simulated signal generator 3. When the sensor 1 is mulfunctioned when the brake is not applied, the state of VT>VW due to the abnormal decrease in the signal VW is detected, the output of a comparator 4 becomes a high level, and the fault of the sensor 1 is detected. Then an AND gate is turned ON, a contact 6' is closed by a relay 6, and a power supply fuse 7 in an antiskid control circuit is cut OFF. Therefore the fault of the speed sensor is detected in the simple constitution, and the erroneous control can be prevented.
