Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable arm's shortcircuit to be detected with rapidity and sureness, by utilizing voltage of a flow-limiting reactor as a detected value of arm's shortcircuit. CONSTITUTION:An inverter arm is composed of a GTO, a P-side current-limiting reactor 50 and an N-side current-limiting detected by insulation detectors 52 and 53, and the outputs are impressed onto an AND circuit, and further, th output signals are impressed onto a pulse width discriminator 55. This discriminator 55, in order to discriminate if the AND circuit's output signal is in false shortcircuit condition, judges whether or not it is more than a certain detection-idling time T1 and detects arm's shortcircuit. And, by providing such a device as a memory circuit 56, an occurred shortcircuit detecting signal is memorized by the device for the purpose of being shown on an indicator, etc. at later time.
