Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a light grid of a low cost without deteriorating both the performance of a battery and the efficiency of manufacturing the grid, by making the width of the lattice element of an expanded assembled grid network to be smaller than the plate thickness of a sheet material. CONSTITUTION:A sheet material which is made of either lead or a lead alloy and has a plate thickness of (t) is subjected to an expanding work, thereby a grid consisting of a current-collecting lag 1, a lower main bone 3, an upper main bone 2 and a netlike assembled grid mesh 4 being obtained. The width, W, of a lattice element 5 of the assembled grid mesh 4 is made smaller than the plate thickness, (t), of the sheet material. The maximum thickness T of the grid is made to be 1.5 t<=T<=2.2 t.
