Abstract

PURPOSE: An inexpensive fluorescent substance emitting deep red efficiently by the stimulation of long wave ultraviolet rays, having no pollution problem and a smell luminance deterioration, comprising tetravalent manganese activated aluminate having a garnet structure.
CONSTITUTION: Mn is added to an aluminate wherein Mg is partly replaced by an alkaline earth metal, and the blend is calcined in air at high temperature 1,300W 1,450°C, to give the desired fluorescnet substance shown by the formula [A is Ca, Sr, or Zn (preferably Ca); X is 0.1≤X≤0.5; Y is 0.001≤Y≤0.01].
