Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the coupling loss between elements, by integrating the ultrasonic deflector and the directional coupler type modulator using the electrooptical effect. CONSTITUTION:In the device where the polarizer of the light wave due to the surface elastic wave and directional couplers, where the coupling degree is modulated by the electrooptical effect, are arranged in series on the electrooptical crystal, the diffraction efficiency of surface elastic wave deflector 1 is 50% approximately, and permeating light 3' and diffracted light 4 are connected to two optical waveguide lines constituting directional couplers 5 and 6 respectively. The coupling degree of directional couplers 5 and 6 is modulated by the electric field applied to electrodes 7 and 8.
