Abstract

PURPOSE: To inhibit an Ni-Cr-Fe alloy for seal bonding soft glass from occurrence of yellow dust by regulating the Mn and Si contents of the alloy and extremely reducing the S and O2+N2 contents.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy for seal bonding soft glass inhibits the occurrence of yellow dust and has a composition consisting of, by wt., 40W48% Ni, 4W8% Cr, 0.005≤Mn<0.10%, 0.005≤Si<0.10%, ≤0.01% S, ≤100ppm O2+N2 and the balance essentially Fe or further contg. 0.005W1.0% one or more among Al, Zr, Ti, Y, Sc and R.E (atomic number 57W71). This alloy is formed into the required shape and treated at a high temp. in wet hydrogen to form an oxide coat. It is then used to seal bond glass. After the treatment no yellow dust occurs on the surface, and the coat has high adhesion.
