Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent disintegration of ion exchange resins by treating a strong acidic aqueous-org. soln. with a macroporous type cation exchange resin then washing the same in two steps by changing soln. composition thence subjecting the same to elution treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A strong acid-org. solvent-aqueous soln. contg. cations as impurities is treated with a macroporous type cation exchange resin, whereby cations are removed. Next, prior to regeneration of this exchange resin, the resin is washed with mixed soln. of an org. solvent-water system of 35W60% org. solvent concn., thence it is washed with mixed soln. of an org. solvent-water system of 20W30% org. solvent concn. At this time, it is possible to use the soln. having undergone the 2nd washing as the washing soln. for the 1st time. Upon complection of this washing in two stages, further it is washed with water, thence an aqueous acid soln. is passed, whereby the material to be treated in the cation exchange resin is eluted and the resin is regenerated.
