Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover useful components and prevent harmful substances from being outflowed externally by a method wherein chromium in an exhaust water is removed by adsorption due to an anion exchange resin and, thereafter, this resin is treated by an alkali to elute chromium and to be regenerated and the eluted liquid is recirculated and used in a wood preservative agent.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust water of copper, chromium, arsenic cpd. type wood preservative agent is adjusted to a pH 4.5 or more and the copper and arsenic are separated as hydroxides. Subsequently, the exhaust water containing only chromium is passed through towers 3, 4 packed with a strong basic anion exchange resin to adsorb chromium. If the exchange capacity is lowered, this resin is regenerated in a mixed solution 6 of sodium hydroxide and sodium chloride and the eluted solution is transferred to a tank 8 and neutralized by a mineral acid 7 such as hydrochloric acid or the like and, after the concn. of sodium chloride in the eluted solution is reduced to 1.0% or less, added to an aqueous wood preservative agent solution and reused. Thus, while harmful components are prevented from being outflowed, said eluted solution is recirculated and used.
