Abstract
PURPOSE: To regenerate an imino-di-acetic acid type cation exchange resin having adsorbed silver ions in good condition without deteriorating the resin by subjecting the same to treatment by an aqueous copper nitrate soln. followed by treatment by a hydrochloric acid in regenerating said resin.
CONSTITUTION: In regenerating the imino-di-acetic acid type cation exchange resin having treated the liquid contg. ≤50ppm Ag ions which is the electrodeposition coating paint consisting essentially of acrylic acid type paint and having been used for electrodeposition coating, first an aqueous copper nitrate soln. of 5W25% concentrations is passed at 5W50°C temperatures in the resin layer in a packed tower. The Ag ions in the resin become silver nitrate which is easy to dissolve in water and is removed as an aqueous soln. Since the resin assumes Cu type, the liquid is passed by using HCl of 1.5W10% concentrations and the resin is regenerated to the resin of H type. If necessary, it is possible to change the resin to Na type and amine type by treating it with an aqueous NaOH soln. and aqueous amine soln.
