Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove colloidal metal from a boiler condensate efficiently by feeding the boiler condensate to a mixed-floor ion exchanger consisting of strong basic anion exchange resin and strong acid cation exchange resin treated with a cationic polyelectrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: A cationic polyelectrolyte having 0.05W10mg equivalent weight, uses as a cationic base for 1l granular strong acid cation exchange resin put on the market, is stirred in water to adsorb the polyelectrolyte to the resin. As this polyelectrolyte, polytrimethylammonium methylstrene, for example, is used. Then, a boiler condensate is fed to a mixed-floor ion exchanger consisting of the strong acid cation exchange resin after the said treatment, and the strong basic anion exchange resin (e.g., product on the market). Consequently, colloidal metal, contained in the boiler condensate, whose major part is a nonionic fine suspended substance is adsorbed and removed.
