Abstract

PURPOSE: To make is possible to decide accurately the propriety of a tooth form by counting the number of measurement points within the range of fixed height by detecting the height of a logical tooth from at each measurement point and then by selecting a gear from the ratio of the number of measurement points to the number of all measurement points.
CONSTITUTION: Plane gear 1 to be checked is rotated at constant fine pitches by driving motor 7 and detection terminal 2 whose tip comes into contact with the tooth form of plane gear 1 is displaced at constant fine pitches in both directions X and Y by X-directional feed mechanism 10 and Y-directional feed mechanism 20. On the tooth surface of plane gear 1, many measurement points are regularly fixed and heights of a logical tooth form are detected; and on the basis of the highest point among those heights, the number of measurement points within a range of a fixed height is counted and the ratio of the number of counted measurement points to that of all measurement points is regarded as that of a gear contact pattern to the gear surface, so that when the ratio is not less than a fixed value, the plane gear is accepted.
