Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the judgement of the limit of an element life nondestructively at a designed temperature by measuring a change of an electrostatic capacity or a change characteristic of a dielectric loss tangent corresponds to the change of a voltage applied to an element. CONSTITUTION:A-D are elements having the same lot numbers as elements having estimated lives of 160hr, 200hr, 500hr and 3,000hr respectively by the conventional acceleration tests. The shorter the life of the element, the lower the safety with respect to the applied voltage of the change characteristic in the electrostatic capacity C/C0, and the capacity increase begins at lower voltage. Similarly, the longer the life of the element, the lower the amount of change characteristic in the dielectric loss tangent (tandelta) of the elements A-D, and the increase of the amount of change begins at high voltage. Accordingly, the judgement of the limit of the element life is performed by measuring the change of the electrostatic capacity or the change characteristic of the dielectric loss tangent corresponding to the change of voltage applied to the element.
