Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled substance containing much triisobutylene sueful as a raw material for a solvent for wet copy, etc. in high yield from a hydrocarbon containing isobutylene, in the presence of a calcined product of alumina-tungsten oxide- fluorine having a specific content ratio as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction is carried out in the presence of a calcined product of alumina-tungsten oxide-fluorine containing 100pts.wt. alumina-tungsten oxide consisting of 60W99wt% alumina and 1W40wt% tungsten oxide, and 0.5W10pts.wt. fluorine, as a catalyst preferably in an amount of 1W10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. raw material, at 100W140°C, for 5W180min, to give the titled substance containing much isobutylene from a hydrocarbon containing the isobutylene, e.g. spent BB fraction.
EFFECT: This method has no problems of corrosion as a method with sulfuric acid, and no need of washing the product, to be readily purified.
