Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the efficiency of a compressor from falling, by providing a compressor housing with a bypass which connects an intake inlet port and an intake outlet port to each other and by opening the return port of the bypass along the total circumference of the intake inlet port.
CONSTITUTION: A supercharger comprises a compressor 1 and a turbine 2. A compressor housing 4 is provided with a bypass 10 which connects an intake inlet port 7 and an intake outlet port 8 to each other. The return port 11 of the bypass 10 is opened along the total circumference of the intake inlet port 7. The distance L between the end of the return port 11 and the tip of each blade 17 is set as L≤1/4D where D denotes the diameter of the intake inlet port 7. As a result, air which flows into the intake inlet port 7 is protected from a local influence and the efficiency of the compressor 1 and the blade 17 are prevented from falling and being damaged, respectively. Since the return port 11 can be located near the blade 17, the weight and cost can be reduced.
