Abstract

PURPOSE:To make construction simple and to make possible stable development by making the magnetic brush by the magnetic toner roughly equal to the moving speed of sleeve surface in a developing device which rotates a magnetic roll and a nonmagnetic sleeve in the same direction. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic roll 1 and a nonmagnetic cylindrical sleeve 2 are both rotated in the (x) direction; for example, 1 is at 1,000r.p.m., and 2 at less than about 50r.p.m. A layer of the magnetic toner of a constant thickness is formed to (x) direction on the sleeve surface from the leading end of an elastic member 4 contacting the sleeve 2 in its longitudinal direction by said member 4. On the other hand, a magnetic brush layer 32 which is transferred out in the (x) direction and can follow up the rotating magnetic field of the magnet roll is formed from the layer 31, and the layer 32 is in the direction opposite to the moving direction of the sleeve and its speed is roughly equal. When the layer 31 extends in the (x) direction and arrives at a nonmagnetic plate 34, the toner goes to the back of the plate 34, and the plate is moved in the (u) direction by the magnetic force to the toner, whereby the replenishment of the toner is stopped.
