Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable long time continuous operation of an electrofocusing type image pickup tube, by forming a photoconductive film on the electrofocusing target then controlling the strength of light on said film in correspondense with the intermittent period of the incident infrared ray. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive film 3 is formed at the electron beam scanning side of an elecdrofocusing target 1, while an irradiation light source 13 such as LED for said film 3 and a drive power source 14 for said light source 13 are provided. A chopper 7 is rotated by means of a motor 70 then the incident infrared rays 4 is irradiated intermittently onto the electrofocusing target 1 while an electron beam 5 is scanned from the opposite side to pick up an image signal corresponding with the incident infrared rays 4 from a signal electrode 2. Consequently the negative charge accumulated on the electron beam scanning face can be removed thereby long time continuous operation of an electrofocusing image pickup tube is enabled.
