Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate highly accurate centering work by centering optical fibers by using a microscope mounted with a double image eyepiece. CONSTITUTION:A microscope is mounted with a double image eyepiece consisting of two roof prisms 5, 6 contacted with each other by means of a semi-transparent mirror 7, and one rectangular prism in contact with the roof prism 6. A sleeve 1 and an other sleeve 2 of a smaller diameter are mounted independently to the driving mechanism of a sample stage and light 9 is passed in an optical fiber 3. If the position of the optical fiber 3 is not in alignment to the optial axis of the microscope, the image appears in double when viewed through the double image eyepiece. The sleeve 2 is moved and in the state that the images superpose to one, the sleeve 2 is fixed. In the same manner, the sleeve 1 is fixed in the position where the images of the outside circumference of the sleeve 1 superpose to one. An adhesive is filled in the space between the sleeves 1 and 2. Hence, the centering of easy work and high accuracy is accomplished.
