Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture alloy powder having high reluctivity and high saturated magnetization without using intricated washing process unlike conventional method, by dispersing needle-shaped iron oxide powder in a suspension contg. slightly water- soluble cobalt salt, by heat-treating and reducing the dispersion.
CONSTITUTION: Iron oxide powder, for example needle-shaped γ-Fe2O3, needle- shaped Fe3O4 etc., is diffused in a suspension contg. slightly water-soluble cobalt salts, e.g., cobalt carbonate, cobalt oxalate etc., so as to be mixed. The mixture is then dehydrated and heat-treated at about 500W700°C temp. and is dry reduced with hydrogen. This method permits to eliminate washing process because no water soluble cobalt salt is used unlike in conventional method, and allows to manufacture ferromagnetic alloy powder of needle-shaped crystals having high reluctivity by simplified process.
