Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve combustibility, by disposing a communication passage in each suction passage of an internal combustion engine provided with an auxiliary combustion chamber so as to accelerate the speed of a mixture flowing from the main suction passage into the auxiliary suction passage at idling or low speed running, thereby supplying finer particles of the mixture thereinto.
CONSTITUTION: A rich mixture is supplied from an auxiliary suction passage 11 into an auxiliary combustion chamber 13, while a lean mixture is supplied from a main suction passage 4 into a main combustion chamber 3. Both of the suction passage 4, 11 are connected through a communication passage 20 at the downstream side. An opening/closing valve 22 is disposed in the auxiliary suction passage 11 at a upstream side from the communication passage 20 and another opening/closing valve 21 is disposed in the main suction passage 4 at a downstream side from the passage 20, respectively. At idling or low-load running, both opening/closing valves 21, 22 are closed by a servomechanism 23, 24 to which a suction pressure is transmitted. While passing through the communication passage 20, the mixture in the main suction passage 4 is accelerated and carried into the auxiliary combustion chamber 13.
