Abstract
PURPOSE:To feed an optimal amount of ink for printing to a printing head using a low-cost circuit structure by providing an on-demand type ink jet near a wire, in the ink type wire dot printer. CONSTITUTION:The on-demand type ink jet 9 comprising a piezoelectric element 12-n is fitted at the nose portion 16 of a printing head. The piezoelectric element 12-n is connected in parallel with an electromagnet 8-n for driving the wire, and a counter electromotive force is generated and impressed on the piezoelectric element 12-n the instant a switch element 20-n turns off, whereby ink is jetted from a nozzle 17-n of the ink jet 9 and fed to the surface of the wire 1-n. The ink is moved from the clearance between the wire 1-n and a wire guide 2 to the tip end of the wire 1-n by capillary action. Accordingly, an amount of ink corresponding to that consumed for printing is fed to the wire.
