Abstract

PURPOSE:To intercept ink splashes by a printer wherein a shield member having an ink droplet passing port is interposed between an ink head and a recording medium opposite to the ink head. CONSTITUTION:Using a screw 12 a shield member 7 is held by a holding member 11 disposed at the front side of carriage 8 on guide shafts 10. The front side corresponds to the forward direction when the carriage 8 is moved forward (to perform jet operation). With this, during the jet operation of ink droplets 2, an ink head 1 and the shield member 7 are driven by means of a wire 9 in cooperation in such a state that a jetting port of the ink head 1 and an ink droplet passing port 6 in the shield member 7 are positioned concentrically to each other. In this state, the ink droplets 2 are jetted on demand, whereupon the ink droplets 2 strike against a recording medium 4 and this generates ink splashes. These ink splashes are dispersed with an air current caused by rotation of a drum 3' and come near attaching on the front face of the ink head 1. But such attachment of ink splashes is prevented by the presence of the shield member 7.
