Abstract
PURPOSE:To form ink droplets at a constant size at all times even when the physical properties of the ink are varied, by employing an oscillatory plate having a spherical surface instead of a flat oscillatory plate, and providing a nozzle in the focus of the spherical surface of the oscillatory plate, whereby the oscillating energy can be concentrated to the vicinity of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:An oscillatory plate 8 having a spherical surface is formed, and a nozzle 2 is provided in the focus of the spherical surface mentioned above. An oscillating voltage is applied to the oscillatory plate 8 through a lead wire 6 with an ink chamber 3 filled with a pressurized printing ink. As a result, the oscillatory plate 8 provided behind the nozzle 2 oscillated to apply the oscillating energy to the printing ink. The oscillating energy is propagated through the ink toward the focus of the spherical surface of the oscillatory plate 8 to excite the ink in the vicinity of the nozzle 2. As a result, the ink alone is ejected to form ink droplets 7. After a fraction of ink has been ejected from the nozzle 2, another fraction of pressurized ink in the ink chamber 3 flows into the nozzle 2. Therefore, the size of the ink droplets 7 can be maintained at constant at all times even when the temperature and the like of the ink is varied.
