Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a charge transfer layer from being subjected to O3 oxidation and being deteriorated by successively forming a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer on a conductive substrate then providing a surface layer consisting of an electron receptive resin. CONSTITUTION:A charge generating layer of an inorg. or org. material is formed on a conductive substrate, and a charge transfer layer consisting essentially of an electron donative material (compound such as hexamethylene diamine, polymer such as polyvinyl carbazole) is provided thereon. Next, a surface layer of an electron acceptive resin (polyvinyl butyral, maleic acid resin, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc.) is formed on the charge transfer layer to about 0.05-5mum thickness by a coating method. In this way, the charge transfer layer is prevented from being deteriorated by the O3 generated during corona charging and from degrading its electrical characteristics such as sensitivity, dark decay rate, and others.
