Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the fouling of an electrode, etc. with ink by injecting ink jet prticles after once withdrawing electrodes such as an electric charge electrode, a detection electrode, a deflection electrode, etc. at time of print commencement, then putting back each electrode where it was before, starting printing or doing the same things even at time of print ending. CONSTITUTION:If a power supply is switched on at time of print commencement, a withdrawing magnet (13) is actuated to widthdraw electrodes such as an electric charge electrode (3), a detection electrode (4), a deflection electrode (5), etc. to a position shown in Fig. at an instruction from a control circuit. After the withdrawal, a solenoid valve (1) works at an instruction from the control circuit, resulting in the jet injection of ink particles through an ink jet head (2). After this process, a withdrawing magnet is put in ''OFF'' position and each electrode is returned to a printing position by means of a return coil spring (14). Then a deflection voltage is applied to cause a printing action. When printing is ended, the shutoff of a deflection voltage, withdrawal of an electrode and shutoff of a solenoid valve take place in that order. Consequently, an electrode will never be contaminated at the time of print commencement and print ending.
