Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive loudspeaker diaphragm of superior characteristics by processing a diaphragm base body, made of a texture of metallic fiber by microwave plasma nitriding, carbonizing or boriding and then performing airtight processing. CONSTITUTION:After domed base body 17 is formed of a texture of metallic fiber such as titanium, a few base bodies 17 are arranged on the internal wall of quartz- made cylinder 16 in container 5 serving as the processing chamber of a microwave nitriding processor. Container 5 is evacuated and then supplied with nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas at an adequate ratio while fed with microwave electric power to produce plasma 25, thereby nitriding the surface of each base body 17. The airtight processing of base body 17 after nitriding processing is performed to obtain a dia- phragm for a loudspeaker. The same diaphragm is obtained carbonization processing or boriding processing in addition to the nitriding processing.
