Abstract

PURPOSE:To control damping force in response to the quantity of displacement of a piston to improve the comfortability to ride in by generating damping force to throttle the fluid passage by a moving body moved by a jet stream of an operating fluid flowing between liquid chambers. CONSTITUTION:The capacity of a liquid chamber R2 is decreased by the downward movement of a piston 3, and an operating fluid flows from the liquid chamber R2 to a liquid chamber R1 via passage 12, valve chest 9, and passage 11. Upon this occasion, since the operating fluid is slightly throttled by a passage 12 and formed into a jet shape to come into collision with a moving body 10, thus pushing up the moving body 10. In a region where the quantity of displacement of the piston is small, the jet stream of the operating liquid is weak, and the displacement of the moving body 10 is small. Hence, the fluid passing area becomes large and the damping force is not almost generated. When the displacement of the piston becomes large, the jet stream becomes strong and the displacement of the piston becomes close to the maximum stroke. Hence, the fluid passing area becomes close to the minimum, and the damping force becomes large. The damping characteristic becomes a characteristic having a so-called displacement amplitude dependency in which the damping force increases when the damping exceeds a predetermined piston displacement.
