Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain superior electrical contact characteristics by internally oxidizing an Ag-Si alloy in an oxygen atmosphere of high pressure not to cause the deterioration of the internally oxidized effects even if the alloy is plastically worked.
CONSTITUTION: (1): A silver eutectic alloy contg. 1W17 atomic% Si and/or Ge as total solute concn. (2): The alloy added 1W10 atomic% of ≥1 kind among Au, Pt, Pd, Rh, Os, Ir and Ru to the alloy (1). (3): The alloy added, 1W5 atomic% of ≥1 kind among Re, Ti, V, W, Ta, Mo, Nb and Zr to the alloy (1). (4): The alloy added 1W5 atomic% of ≥1 kind among Co, Ni and Cu to the alloy (1). (5): The alloy added the alloy (2) plus (3) or (2) puls (4), respectively. Said Ag-Si alloys (1)W(5) are worked and internally oxidized at 250°C W the eutectic temp. in an oxygen atompshere of high pressure to obtain an electrical contact material. Even if the material is plastically worked into various kinds of form, the internally oxidized effects such as low contact resistance and resistances to adhesion, discharge consumption and melt sticking are maintained.
