Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the degree of accuracy in detecting the tensile or compressive force between rolling stands by a method wherein the tensile force acting upon the rolled material is detected at two positions on each of the driving and working sides of the rolling stands, and the tensile force of each rolling row is obtained by using a means to recognize the rolling rows at the stands. CONSTITUTION:Provided at two positions on each of the working and driving sides of a multirow continuous rolling mill are detectors 4', 4 and 5' and 5 to detect the tensile or compressive force, together with a rolling row recognizing apparatus 6 to recognize the rolling rows at the stands. As the tensile/compressive force detectors, load converters are used. The rolling rwo recognizing apparatus 6 is constituted by the combination of each one or a plurality of detection signals of hot-lump detectors, photoelectric tubes, a drive motor load current detector 7, the increase or decrease in the rolling load and the like to which the forecast time is added. The output of each of the detectors 4, 4', 5, 5', 6 and 7 is converted into an electric signal and inputted to an arithmetic apparatus 8, which outputs the tensile or compressive force of each rolling row. Thereby, it is possible to increase the degree of accuracy in detecting the tensile or compressive force between stands for each rolling row.
