Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform accurate measurement in a short time by arranging energy detection sensors spherically, by arranging cylindrical bodies, isolating the respective sensors, in the normal direction of the sensors, and detecting the position of an energy source from the position of a sensor which generates a maximum output. CONSTITUTION:A position detector 1 consists of a many photodetectors 2 arranged on a spherical surface 3, and cylindrical bodies 4 extending in their normal direction. The outputs of the photodetectors 2, such as phototransistors, are sent to a multiplexer 7 through lead lines 6 and then inputted to a microcomputer 9 through an ADC8 to discriminate the photodetector 2 which generates a maximum output. On the basis of the stored azimuth angles theta and elevation angles PSI of the photodetectors 2, the current position of the sun is detected. A signal from the microcomputer 9 is used to make a sloar furnace 10 track the sun through a pulse motor 11. Thus, the accurate measurement of the position of an energy source is performed in a short time.
