Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure exactly and easily the tension applied during the rolling work to an object that is rolled by measuring the time of passing of the front end and the time of passing of the rear end of the rolled object between two rolling rolls. CONSTITUTION:With two rolling rolls driven at a constant speed by motors M1 and M2, and when the fron end of an object to be rolled enters the first roll, the load of the motor M1 increases by the raised load current. Next, when the front end enters the second roll, the load current of the motor M2 rises. Those rises are detected by load current detectors 8 and 9 and input to a controller 10. When the object passes rollers, the load currents of the motors M1 and M2 fall. The signal of those falls is also inputted to the controller 10. The time at which the front end of the object passes the roll and the time at which the rear end passes the roll are respectively stored in the resistors 16 and 17 and their ratio is calculated at a calculator 18, and displayed on a display device 7 as the tension applied to the object.
