Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly grasp the rolling condition, and to improve the safety of the rolling mill, by installing an apparatus for measuring the torque from the load between the housing and the roll chock, in the differential rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The sheet 3 is wrapped around the upper and lower work rolls 1, 2, so as to form a character S; under this condition, the sheet is rolled. The sheet thickness on the feed-in side is taken as h0, similarly, the thickness on the run-out side as h1, the sheet speed on the feed-in side as v0, the sheet speed on the run-out side as v1, the circumferential speed of the lower roll 2 as v0, and the circumferential speed of the upper roll 1 as V1; then, their relations are settled as follows, h0/h1=v1/v0, v0=V0, and v1=V1. During the rolling work, the rolling work, the load detectors 6, 8, respectively detect the horizontal load between the housing 4 and the run-out side of the roll chock 5, and the horizontal load between the housing 4 and the feed-in side of the roll chock 7; outputs of these detectors 6, 8, are amplified by the amplifier 9 whose output is then sent to the torque operator 10. The torque operator 10 operates the torque from this input and signals showing the radius, etc., of upper and lower rolls 1, 2, sent from the setter 11; thus operated torque is displayed on the display 12 as the measured value. Hereby, the rolling condition and the load acting on the rolling mill can be exactly learned.
