Abstract

PURPOSE: To let rolling of high accuracy to be performed by substracting the work roll bending load from the measured rolling load to obtain true rolling load and further calculating gauge meter plate thickness from the gauge meter considering the bending effect of rolls.
CONSTITUTION: The material to be rolled 11 is rolled by work rolls 12. Screw-down position operation is accomplished by a screw-down control unit 24 according to the screw-down set value of a controlling computer 38 and the screw-down position S is detected by detectors 28. Increase bending load is given to the work rolls 12 by devices 20. The work roll bending pressure is detected by the detectors 28 and is converted to the work bending load, which is then taken in a rolling load arithmetic unit 36 which in turn substracts the bending load FB from the load cell load FL having been detected to calculate the true rolling load FR. A gauge meter plate thickness arithmetic unit 40 calculates gauge meter plate thickness from information such as FR, FB, work roll revolution number N, plate width W, etc.
