Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly measure titled thrust load, by converting the thrust load, being loaded on the measuring bearing constituted so as to receive only the thrust load, into an electric signal using the load detecting element. CONSTITUTION:When the load is given to the roll 1 of the rolling mill, the radial load is borne by the cylindrical roller bearing 3, but the thrust load is borne by a couple of the right and the left conical roller bearings 4. For example, if the thrust load acts on the left, this thrust load is transmitted to the outer rece 41 through the inner race 42 and the rollers of the conical roller bearing 4, and moreover, is transmitted to the ring flange 21 of the chock 2 from the detecting jig 61. The jig 61 deforms correspondingly to the magnitude of this thrust load, and this deformation gives a force to the strain gauge 6. The magnitude of the force acting on the strain gauge 6 is recorded on the electromagnetic oscillograph 9 through the bridge circuit 7 and the strain meter 8 as the size of the strain proportional to the magnitude of the acting force. From this size of the strain, the magnitude of the thrust load can be learned.
