Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily, stably practice a multi-strand rolling process, by impressing null or weak tension upon each material instead of a free loop, and by adjusting the roll velocity in order to control the said tension.
CONSTITUTION: The i-th stand 1 and the (i+1)th stand 2 for rolling a material 3 are driven by motors 4, 5 whose rotational velocities are controlled by velocity controllers 6, 7 to prescribed rotational velocities. The velocity controllers 6, 7 are provided with rotating detectors 8, 9 and operators 10, 11 forming a closed loop in order to send a control signal to the controllers 6, 7; the i-th stand 1 is provided with a load cell 12, a tension computer 13, an operator 14, a tension controller 15 and an operator 16 in order to detect and control the tension between the i-th stand 1 and the (i+1)th stand 2. Each of stands 1, 2 is driven by each of motors 4, 5 whose rotational velocity is then controlled by the controllers 6, 7 to a prescribed value. In the said closed loop, the difference between the rotational velocity detected by each of detector 8, 9 and the reference rotational velocity of each of motors 4,5 is operated by each of operators 10, 11 which then send the obtained difference signal to the controllers 6, 7.
