Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent short run and improve productivity by detecting the pressure of the casting molten metal in the cavity in the mold and stopping the press-feeding of the molten metal by the detected value thereof in low-pressure casting with pressurizing the molten metal in the upper mold and casting the same.
CONSTITUTION: A crucible 2 containing molten metal 10 in a pressure tank 1 is set and the sprue 9 of the cavity 8 for casting of an upper mold 7 is connected to a sprue sleeve 6 by means of a conduit 5 for pouring. The conduit 5 is dipped into the molten metal 10. Compressed air is forcedly fed from a compressed air feed and exhaust pipe 11 to pressurize the surface of the molten metal 10, whereby the molten metal 10 is cast into the cavity 8 through the conduits 5, 6, and the sprue 9. At this time, the pressure of the molten metal in the cavity 8 is detected with the pressure detector 15 mounted to the inside surface of the cavity 8. When the molten metal begins to solidify, the pressure detected by the pressure detector 15 drops down to extremely low pressure and finally to zero pressures and therefore, the pressurizing of the molten metal 10 surface is stopped, whereby the short run is eliminated, and the wasteful metal in the sprue part is minimized, thus productivity is improved.
