Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrict the fluctuation of interstand tension to a possible minimum value, by changing the flow rate or the concentration of the lubricating oil to be fed to the work roll in accordance with the previously specified delaying characteristic. CONSTITUTION:The flow rate setter 8 determine the set point of the flow rate correspondingly to the condition of progress of the rolling work. In the case that this set point of the flow rate newly determined by the setter 8 is greatly different from the foregoing set point, if this new set point is inputted as it is to the flow rate controller 7, the tension becomes instable because of a great change in the lubricating condition. In this case, the new set point determined by the setter 8 is inputted to the flow-rate changing pattern generator 9 which then produces the set point after moderating its changing speed to the flow rate controller 7 in order to depress the tension fluctuation. It is also possible to change the lubrication characteristic by changing the concentration of the lubricating oil instead of the flow rate. In this case, the devices 7, 8, 9 regarding the flow rate are substituted by the devices regarding the concentration.
