Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately determine the set points of roll gap and a roll speed for performing the rolling work, by correcting the roll gap and the rotational speed of roll computed by the setting-up function ion on the basis of the variation of mass- flow obtained from the programmed rate of lubricant supply.
CONSTITUTION: The setup computer 12 computes the roll gap and the rotational speed of roll under an oilless condition or a poorly lubricated condition. Next, the variation of the rolling load is computed on the basis of the programmed rate of lubricant supply, and the roll gap computed by the setup compensator 13 is corrected. Besides, the new roll speed is computed correspondingly to the variation of the value of mass-flow on the basis of the amount of used lubricant. This roll gap's set point is inputted to the roll gap adjuster 6, and the set point of the motor speed corresponding to the corrected rotational speed of roll is inputted to the speed controller 8. By this setup compensating method, the balance between the mass-flow of every stand is attained so that the breadth fluctuation, etc., at neighborhood of the tip of the rolled material is prevented.
