CONSTITUTION: Under a condition that a rolled material is bitten by all rolling stands, the forward tension FN of the N-th stand, that is the interstand tension between the (N+1)th stand and the N-th stand, is obtained from an equation I. A tension component to be generated between a former couple of stands is obtained for every couple of all stands biting the material, and the tension FN caused by an unbalance of rotational frequencies between the couple of stands concerned is only obtained. By controlling the separately obtained interstand unbalance of rotational frequencies (RPM), the interstand tension is controlled to the amied value FN.
