Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize a rolling work, by changing an aimed tension value or a manipulated variable so as to match the preset value, in order to eliminate an instability occurring before and after the tail end of the rolled material passes over each of rolling stands.
CONSTITUTION: The tension of the rolled material is controlled by adjusting the speed of plural rolling stands for rolling the material depending on the commanded tension value and the detected actual value of the tension of the rolled material. In this case, the commanded tension value is gradually reduced from a moment of a preset time later than a specified moment before the tail end of the rolled material passes through the upstream stand of adjoining two stands, and the commanded tension value is made just or almost zero at the moment that the tail end of the rolled material passes through the upstream stand. By thus gradually reducing the front tension of the upstream stand from a moment a little earlier than the moment that the tail end of the rolled material passes through the upstream stand, thus the instability of the rolling work is prevented.
