Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the forward slip of the rolled material to a small value, and to beautifully form the deformed shape, by carrying out the rolling pass while the specified back tension is being impressed on the rolled material between the final roll stand and its front roll stand.
CONSTITUTION: The tension between the final roll stand 10 and its front roll stand 11 for rolling and forming the rolled material 2' into the deformed steel bar is detected by the tension detector 12; and the rotational frequency of each roll of the roll stands 10, 11, is controlled by the tension controlling circuit 14 so as to make above detected interstand tension to coincide with the set point of the tension setter 13. Hereupon, the set point of above stated tension setter 13 is specified so as to keep the interstand tension possible to hold the ratio between the tensile stress σ per unit sectional area of the rolled material 2' and the deformation resistance kf of the rolled material 2' in the range defined by 0.05W0.1, and also, the forward slip of the rolled material 2' is restricted to ≤5%; under these conditions, the rolling work is carried out.
