Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an image fiber with superior image strain characteristics by bundling many fiber strands and impregnating a liq. into each gap between strands to regulary line up the strands.
CONSTITUTION: Quartz optical fiber strands 1 are bundled to form strand bundle 2, and an electrically conductive liq. such as water or alcohol having high wettability to glass and easy to remove later is impregnated into each gap between strands 1 of bundle 2. By the destaticizing action and cohesion of the liq. strands 1 are lined up in a hexagonal close packing state. Thus, strainds 1 can be arranged regularly to obtain an image fiber with superior image strain characteristics.
